Professor James C. Watkins teaches all levels of
Architectural Delineation. James received his M.F.A. from Indiana University and his B.F.A. from the Kansas City Art Institute, with a concentration in drawing, ceramics and sculpture. His research interests are architectural ceramics and studio art. In 1994 he was invited to spend the spring semester in Japan as Resident Artist at the Shigaraki Institute of Ceramic Studies in Shigaraki, Japan, and Resident Scholar at the Japan Center for Michigan Universities in Hikone, Japan. In 1990 James received the President's Excellence In Teaching Award from Texas Tech University. His work is shown internationally and is included in the first permanent White House Craft Collection and the permanent collection of the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park in Shigaraki, Japan. In 1995 his work was shown in two museums of the Smithsonian Institution -- the Renwick Gallery of Contemporary Crafts (Uncommon Beauty In Common Objects), and the National Museum of American Art (The White House Craft Collection.) The White House Craft Collection toured major museums throughout the United States. |
