The Community Design and Development Certificate is an educational component of the Master of Science in Community Design and Development. Both the Master of Science and the Certificate make up the Community Design and Development Program.

The College of Architecture's certificate in Community Design and Development (CD) is a multi-disciplinary program that focuses the complex realm connecting architecture, urban design, and urban planning at different scales and establishes linkages between theory and practice. There are three major areas of faculty interest in the CD program: community design, urban design and planning.

The certificate in Community and Design Development is administered in four specific ways:

  1. The certificate is earned within the 38 hours of core coursework required to complete the MS Arch degree program.
  2. The certificate can be earned by those enrolled in any TTU graduate program.
  3. The certificate is earned in conjunction with the completion of the MArch degrees offered by the College of Architecture.
  4. The certificate can be earned by anyone with an approved undergraduate degree from any college or school at Texas Tech, or any other university in the world.

A minor or certificate of specialization can be obtained by graduate students in other programs by taking the 15 hours of core courses in the Community Development program.
