the Banca Popolare seems to be articulated according to Semper's four elements, earthwork in stone, screen wall in plaster, and a steel framed logia at the top. Ziggurat molding articulates the separation of these materials. The entry is given a sculptural presence due to the revealed thickness of the marble, the horizontal rustication, and the single chamfered gun slit above. There is a great contrast between the dressed marble and the rough plaster.
The circular windows are assembled out of five pieces. On axis below the windows are thin vertical grooves of red Veronese marble that accept the down pipes of the gutters. These accommodate the weathering of the facade and the water stains from the beginning.
