In order to printer or access files on our network, your must computer must be a part of the campus domain. Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000 Professional is required to join the network domain. You can easily verify which version of Windows is loaded onto your computer by choosing Start, Run, and typing the word winver into the blank, and pressing OK. If you are already running Windows Professional, you can skip the steps below, and proceed to install the required Windows updates. If you are running home edition, an upgrade is available to download free of charge, or for the cost of media (at the Hi-Tech computer store). Remember that this software is bound by the terms of the Microsoft Campus Agreement, and must be removed when you leave school. To download the installation package for Windows XP Professional visit this website. Login with your eRaider username and password. Choose Software on the left side of the screen, and then choose Windows Operating systems from the list. Take down the software serial key on a piece of paper. You will need this information when installing the software. Click on the Windows XP professional link, and read the license agreement that follows. If you agree to the terms of the agreement, click the checkboxes on the page, and click next. You will again be prompted for your username and password. Enter this information. Your computer will then ask to save a file. Save this file on your desktop, or on another location on your computer that is easy to access. Once this file has finished downloading, double-click it to start the installation process. The files will extract to your disk, and the installer will launch after a few minutes. Choose "Upgrade" to upgrade Windows and keep all of your user settings. If you receive warnings about software that will not be available once you upgrade, it is recommended that you make a note of the applications affected. Click on the Details button to understand the issues involved. Open the system control panel, and choose add/remove programs, choose the program listed, and remove it before continuing the upgrade process. Once the process is completed, you may either install the application again or a newer version of the software. After a moment, you will be asked for the license key. Enter that information and click next. The rest of the upgrade process should be automatic. Once your system is fully upgraded, which takes about one hour, install the required windows updates. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
