In order to print your computer must join the University domain. This process will allow you to log into your computer with your eRaider username and password and access our network resources. These are not limited to printers but include the licensed software that you may use in the Architecture building. The IT department will need to add your computer to the domain. Please visit room 901 or 902 with your laptop. If you have a desktop computer, please drop by to make an appointment. At this time we will add the printers from the print bureau to your computer. It is important that your computer be ready for this process. Below are the requirements for participating in the University domain. Windows 2000 or XP professional must be running on your computer, and all of the critical updates have to be applied. A virus scanner is also mandatory. Please read and follow the instructions to update your computer, and install a virus scanner. If you have 2000 or XP home edition on your computer please read this. If you have already been added to the domain, and the printers are not present on your computer, or for any other reason follow these instructions. Installing printers is easy. Just right click on the computer and choose Connect. The printer drivers should automatically be installed on your computer, and the printer will be available in the Printers control panel. Adding printers to AutoCAD.If you do not already have AutoCAD installed on your computer, read this document on installing software. To add a plotter or printer to AutoCAD, open AutoCAD and choose File, and Plotter Manager. Then click the icon labeled Add a Plotter Wizard.

of the plotter manager will be different. The procedure below will detail the process for adding both plotters and laser printers to your configuration. There are also instructions for printing to your personal printer, and a special note regarding printing from AutoCAD. Click NEXT to start configuring the printers. You will need to run the Plotter Wizard shortcut for each printer you wish to install.
PlottersChoose Network Plotter Server and click next.
On the next page, click Browse to choose the plotter.
Double click on Microsoft Windows Network to expand the list. Browse down the list until you reach TTU, double click on the TTU icon.
Scroll down until you find Archprint, double click that icon. There should be a list of printers as show above. Only the highlighted printers should be added in this manner, to add the others please read the laser printers section below. Click the HP1055CMBond and press okay, and click next on the page that follows. Next you will be asked to choose the driver that best matches the plotter. All of these printers can use the same printer driver. Choose the Manufacturer and Printer model as show below.
After press the next button, you will receive a warning about HPGL/2 optimized printing drivers. You may ignore this warning by pressing okay. If you wish you can download the drivers from http://www.hp.com and install them on your computer. Just click next when asked about importing Pcp or Pc2 configurations. On the next screen choose a plotter name. It is best to shorten the name, and use one appropriate to the printer model. Click next again, and then choose finish. You can repeat the process for the other printers available for use in the print bureau. Please read the note below regarding printing from AutoCAD. Laser PrintersThere are three laser printers in the print bureau to choose from. Each printer has a unique set of features. Personal PrintersYou can also use a printer that is directly attached to your computer. Make sure the printer is working within Windows. Instructions for setting up printers to work with Windows are part of the documentation included with the printer, and are also available on the manufacturer's website. One that indicates that this is your printer is a good choice, such as "My Deskjet 960". Click next again, and then choose finish. Printing from AutoCADWhen printing from AutoCAD it is necessary to use the .pc3 files that have been set up in the above instructions. Printing to the printers that are listed as \\archprint\HP8150BW (for example) will not work. This applies to the plotters as well. In the image below, the correct printer definition is selected.
Using .pc3 files allows you to manage your printers from AutoCAD separately from those that are defined within Windows, and set up custom page sizes. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
