Developing BIM Model |
- Project Proposal (old)
In this project, I am going to produce a BIM model for a design project its construction documents are being produced by BGR Architects, Lubbock, Texas. Conventional method of design production (AutoCAD) is used to produce the construction documents by the consultant.
The project is an addition to the gymnasium of the Frenship High School (FISD) in Wolfforth, Texas. All the three design phases (Schematic, Design Development, and Construction Documents) are being produced using the conventional method by AutoCAD. In this project, I will show the ability of Revit Building to produce a "BIM" model of the gymnasium in a shorter time than the conventional method using AutoCAD. (Revit Building is software from Autodesk to produce construction documents of buildings. It has a good potential to be one of the future BIM software).
- Project Proposal (new)
Instead of re-working the construction documents, I have modified the project proposal to reflect how design and construction material changes could be easily and quickly performed to an architectural design after all the construction documents are produced. The main reasons for modifying the original project proposal was due to the need of changing the exterior stack wall type after all the construction are almost done. Both the client and the consultant decided to see some other exterior alternatives type of stack walls in order to lower the project cost.
The exterior stack wall of the original/first design consists of a concrete wall base with a brick wall on its upper parts. The newly proposed stack wall which is believed to reduce the higher cost of the building due to the original stack wall consists of a brick wall on its base, a short pre-cast stone course, and a tall concrete panel on its upper part.
