The College of architecture accepts all students who have an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university, and meet or exceed the entrance standards of the Graduate School and the College of Architecture. The admission application includes a portfolio of work that communicates that reflects the student’s basic understanding of graphic design and communication. Students must also show a basic understanding and accomplishment of digital design skills, including modeling, rendering, and imaging. Candidates with deficiencies in these skills are required to take graduate or undergraduate leveling courses to acquire basic competence, enabling them to perform well in the visualization course work. Financial assistance is available within the College of Architecture in the form teaching assistantships, research assistantships, graduate part-time instructor positions and scholarships. Applications must be submitted by January 15th in order for students to be considered for financial aid for the following academic year. Portfolio RequirementHave a portfolio of hand drawing and design work that communicates design knowledge within a discipline, and a basic understanding and accomplishment of digital design skills, including modeling, rendering and imaging. Students may be required to take graduate or undergraduate leveling courses to acquire basic skills necessary to perform well in the visualization program. These course requirements will be in addition to the 36 hours required for the degree. Computer RequirementAll students entering the program will be required to own, purchase or lease computing hardware and software that meet the requirements of the VIZ program. This computing shall be available in the student’s studio workspace within the College of Architecture. The College of Architecture will provide secure Studio workspace in which to keep your equipment. The College does not take responsibility for the loss or damage to the equipment in the building. We encourage students to insure their computing equipment. DeadlinesThe COA Graduate Application should be received by March 1st for the following Fall semester or by October 1st for the following Spring semester. |
