Standard Operating Procedures
3D Printing
Available hours of operation:
- Semester: 7 days a week 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Winter/Summer: M-F 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
HCoA student prints:
- Cost of each print less than 10 hours is $6.00

- Non-refundable $3.50 fee is charged when file is submitted
- STL should be ready to slice and or print
- Non-refundable $2.50 fee plus additional 2 cents per minute that exceed 600 is charged once the print is started
- Failed prints that resulted from file error will need to be re-sent. Additional set up and print fee will be applied.
- All prints in excees of 10 hours will result in 2 cents per additional minute charge.
- Prints are completed in the order received.
- The standard is to use one printer per student. Example, 5 files sent from same student will be printed in order using one printer.
- Files should be properly scaled in millimeters and sent to the digital lab in STL through this website.
- Students should utilize Netfabb to ensure 3D file mesh is correct prior to sending their print.
- Maximum printing parameters are 9x8x8, 9 wide, 8 long, 8 tall.
- For operators to utilize a brim to assist with a successful print, large one-piece prints should not exceed 8x7x8
- Minimum spacing between parts should be 1.
- PLA filament will be used for all prints.
- Colors available are white, black, grey, clear and woodgrain.
- Default color is white. Additional HCoA provided color requests should be documented in the notes section prior to file submittal.
- Multi-color prints will not be accepted
- Student assistants will remove all prints and stage them for pick up from the storage shelf.
- Prints not picked up within 24 hours of completion will be placed in the recycle bin or disposed of.
